What the MIT licence does and does not grant
--------------------------------------------

The MIT licence covers the **code**. It permits use, modification, commercial
distribution and sublicensing, including as part of a closed-source or paid
product, provided the copyright notice and licence text travel with it.

It does **not** grant any right to the trademarks, service marks, product names,
logos or trade dress of Nous Research, including the names "Nous Research",
"Hermes", "Hermes Agent" and "Nous Portal". Those remain the property of their
owner and are not licensed by MIT.

Accordingly this fork:

  * retains `LICENSE` verbatim, and this attribution;
  * removes Nous Research branding from all user-visible surfaces;
  * does not present itself as Hermes Agent, nor as endorsed by or affiliated
    with Nous Research;
  * does not use Nous Portal or any Nous-operated service.

Where upstream names survive in internal identifiers (module paths, config
keys, environment variables, skill frontmatter namespaces) they are technical
artefacts of the fork, not branding.

Third-party dependencies
------------------------

This work carries the dependencies of the upstream project, each under its own
licence. The authoritative list is the `dependencies` table in `pyproject.toml`,
where every direct dependency is exact-pinned; run `pip show <name>` for the
licence of any one of them.

Brand logos on the Connected apps screen are Simple Icons (https://simpleicons.org,
CC0 1.0), shipped through `@icons-pack/react-simple-icons` (MIT). The marks remain
the trademarks of their owners and are shown only to identify the apps they name.

Where Simple Icons has no mark for an app, the Connected apps screen uses the
official brand SVG from the svgl collection (https://github.com/pheralb/svgl,
MIT Licence, Copyright (c) pheralb), pinned at commit
ed75393dbe6eba6e446e208abb6826ecd1abd36d, copied into
`apps/desktop/src/app/connectors/logos/` and bundled with the app; nothing is
fetched at runtime. The svgl MIT licence covers the collection's code and
packaging only. Every logo is a trademark of its owner, used solely to identify
the app it names, and implies no endorsement of or affiliation with Hosia.

A few logos come straight from the vendor's own brand, press or media page, where
the vendor offers the file for download without a sign-in. Each was copied once,
sanitised (comments, metadata, styles stripped), and bundled; source page, then file:

Each is a trademark of its owner, used only to identify the app it names.

On-device voice
---------------

Voice conversation hears and speaks on the computer. First-run setup installs
these at pinned versions and downloads their models at pinned revisions, each
checked against its SHA-256 (`tools/on_device_voice.py`); nothing else is
fetched at runtime.
